Despite the claim inherent in the product name of TiGi Catwalk Curls Rock amplifier, not all of us grew up thinking that our curls did, in fact, rock. As a child of the ‘90s, all I wanted for years and years was long, straight hair parted in the middle and held back by butterfly clips or scrunchies or some other bizarre hair accessory of that decade. And even if I was willing to accept a little extra texture, it came in the form of a crimping iron, which meant I was still working against my natural bouncy hair curl types and fighting a losing battle.

Not until I reached middle and high school did I finally start to appreciate my curls for what they were. It dawned on me at a certain point that at every quinceanera or bat mitzvah or sweet sixteen, the birthday girl would have her hair styled in the opposite of her natural look – all the curly haired gals (myself included) wanted stick-straight locks, while the girls with straight hair came equipped with curling irons and hairspray and bobby pins to try and achieve a curly style that wouldn’t fall flat by the first round of dancing.

I couldn’t believe that anyone with the straight hair I so desperately wanted would actually put in so much effort to get the sort of hair I rolled out of bed in the morning with! And so, I set out on a mission to start taking better care of my curls and actually grew to love them by the time that I graduated.

So why do I mention all this? Not just as a feel good, love yourself for who you are sort of story – though I, of course, want nothing more than that for all you lovely ladies out there – but, to demonstrate a point. Just as pin-straight was not in the cards for my natural hair type, so too this TiGi product which I am about to review will not create curls where they don’t exist. “Curls Rock” is meant to bring out natural curls, so if your hair is more spaghetti than elbow macaroni, I suggest you put this bottle back on the shelf where you found it since it will likely not suit your purposes.

If, on the other hand, you have naturally wavy or curly hair and are looking for something to keep your tresses hydrated, voluminous, and frizz-free, well then you’ve certainly come to the right place. As a cream, this product gives hair the perfect amount of control and hold without any of that sticky goopiness you might expect from a gel. Your hair will be soft and touchable!

Using TiGi Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier: What To Expect

After you’ve stepped out of the shower and ran a comb through your clean hair, work this Curls Rock Amplifier through still-damp hair to give each curl definition and separation. You know that beautiful mermaid type hair we all aspire for at the beach? This product works along similar lines, and the formula consisting of seaweed, algae, kelp, cucumber water, and sea fennel combined with essential oils for hair will give you waves that have that naturally sexy I-got-just-back-from-a-surf-trip vibe. Who cares whether or not you actually know how to surf (or if you even live near a beach); what matters is that you’ll look fantastic!

In addition to using this product on wet hair, I’ll sometimes run a bit through my ends on days when I haven’t washed my hair, if I find that the ends are frizzing up or not laying as nicely as I would like. I have heard a few complaints of people who say that the formula is too thick, but that is precisely why I like it – this is a heavy-duty moisturizing product for dry hair like mine that is thirsty for hydration!

I live in a relatively humid state, and if I apply this before heading out the door in the morning, I’m assured a full day’s worth of good hair – even in the midst of the hot and damp summer. Come winter I, unfortunately, end up needing to blow dry my hair more often than I would like (since there’s no way I’m running out with damp hair and possibly catching a cold), so applying this before taking a hot tool to my hair is just one more way to give my hair a bit of extra protection and lift.
